The Johnson County Commissioners have scheduled their special meeting for Thursday evening to discuss the water rights agreement for Lake DeSmet.
Sheridan County's Commissioners have backed a proposal to allow Johnson County to but their interests in the lake and control it, with the caveat to allow the Game and Fish lease of junior water rights.
The Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition Joint Powers Board, at their meeting Tuesday evening, backed the idea of the LDCC JPB remaining intact and both counties working together to find a way to make the G&F lease work.
The Game and Fish wants a decision one way or another on the lease issue, and has given the three entities until their meetings November 14th and 15th in Rock Springs to reach a decision.
It is now up to the Johnson County Commissioners to decide how they want to proceed, whether to buy out Sheridan County or try to work together and make the lease work.
The commissioners are expected to make their decision at Thursday's special meeting, which will be held at the Commissioner's Office at the courthouse beginning at 5:30pm.
