The Johnson County Commissioners, at Tuesday's meeting, approved the Chairman to sign the agreement with the State on the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality, or CMAQ award for funds for FY 2014 and FY 2015.
County Road and Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer brought the agreement and contract, which will net the county $300,000 per year towards dust abatement on county roads.
By agreement, the county will receive $300,000 per year in 2014 and 2015 for dust abatement projects in the county, The county's share per year is roughly $450,000 for a total cost of $750,000 per year.
Pehringer explains further.
Commissioner Delbert Eitel said the program must be working as he has had numerous compliments form the public on the dust abatement program on all county roads, but especially on Hazelton Road.
