The Northeast Wyoming Municipal Leaders Group, or NEWY, is conducting tours of Northeast Wyoming with stops in Sheridan, Buffalo and Gillette, to show off the travel/tourism and energy industries and how they are interwoven to create the unique economic atmosphere in this part of the state.
A small entourage of Legislative assistants and other representatives of lawmakers from Washington, DC are here to tour the area on a fact-finding mission and report back to the lawmakers back east what they have learned.
Jennifer Johnson, with Big Horn Public Affairs, helped to organize the tours, and she said the goal is to educate those staffers to the two major industries in this part of the state.
The staffers stopped Monday afternoon at the Occidental Hotel for refreshments and a chance to meet with the local media before touring Crazy Woman Canyon and heading out to the TA Ranch for dinner.
The tour will continue Tuesday and Wednesday in Gillette and finish in Rapid City.
