Johnson County To Rework Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan

Johnson County To Rework Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan

At their last meeting the Johnson County Commissioners voted to allow the commission chair to sign an agreement with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), for a Homeland Security Grant to redo the county's Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.

County Emergency Management Coordinator Marilyn Connolly explains further.

The grant is for $30,000 which the Federal Government will contribute $26,625 according to Connolly. The county will be responsible for the 25% match on the grant.

The grant will pay for a complete reworking or overhaul of the county's Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan which was last done in 2007, and must be updated and approved by FEMA every five years, according to the county's website.
