The four-apartment complex located at 181 N. Adams Ave. now has a new tenant after the commission approved leasing one at their last meeting.
The apartment building was recently purchased by the Johnson County Commissioners to accommodate possible expansion at the Johnson County Library.
The building has two tenants now that are leasing on a six-month basis, meaning the commission must give them six months notice to move out before tearing the building down to accommodate the library's expansion.
The commission approved a month-to-month lease for an undisclosed tenant for Unit #D in the building. One other apartment remains unrented but there is some interest from someone wanting to lease it, according to The Commissioner's Administrative Assistant Jennifer Jackson.
After discussion about possibly changing the tenants' leases to all read the same way, which will be looked into by the county attorney's office, the commission voted to approve the lease of Unit #D.
