At their meeting Tuesday, the Johnson County Commissioners awarded their annual scholarships to three students in Johnson County.
Each year the commissioners choose two students from Buffalo High School and one from Kaycee High School to award funds to help them further their education, and also choose one recipient that has received a previous scholarship to award a “renewal scholarship” to. The scholarships are for $500 per semester for one year.
Commissioner Delbert Eitel said every year is difficult to choose the scholarship recipients but this year was exceptionally difficult due to the quality of the applications actoss the board. All of the commissioners were impressed with the applicants.
Awarded scholarships from BHS were Candace Carder and Marina Carutchet and Shannon Horn was named as the alernate. From Kaycee, the scholarship went to James Phillip Caro and the alternate was Ellie Carutchet.
Cameron Spade, a graduate of Buffalo High School, was awarded the renewal scholarship, with Sarah Carr of Kaycee named as the alternate.
