A perpetual fund set up for the Johnson County Family YMCA by the county commissioners was released to the YMCA at their request, after being approved by the county commissioners at their meeting Tuesday.
The $100,000 fund was established to help with maintenance costs for the YMCA, which were expected to be significant over the next few years.
With the YMCA Board looking at a possible new community recreation center that will be run by the YMCA, they requested the commissioners issue the funds to them to use on architectural drawings or other projects where it may be needed, concerning the new recreation center.
Commissioner John Gibbs explained further.
After discussions, the commissioners voted to allow the YMCA use of the funds for their project.
