The Johnson County Board of Health had their first quartely meeting of 2013 with the Johnson County Commissioners. The board introduced the new State Nurse, gave an update on flu cases in the county, and reported on capital construction at the healthcare center.
County Health Officer Dr. Mark Schueler introduced Dr. Ryan Ludwig as the new Assistant County Health Officer, who will fill in for him when needed. The new Staff Nurse, Lisa Pallas, was introduced to the commissioners, who replaced former Staff Nurse Heidi Stoltz.
Dr. Schueler said the flu season has peaked in mid-January this year , which is three to four weeks earlier than normal, although the peak varies from year to year.

Dr. Schueler also gave am update on proposed future capital construction projects at the Johnson County Healthcare Center, saying multiple factors including county valuation in the next few years will go a long way in deciding to move forward with those plans or scrap them.
