At their meeting last week the Johnson County Commissioners approved a number of requests ranging from grant application approvals to a Memorandum Of Understanding.
Marie Verger, with the Buffalo Downtown Association, requested a sign designating Buffalo as a Main Street Community be installed on county-owned property at the corner of Fort and Main Streets, which they approved pending approval from WYDOT.
Black Hills Bentonite requested the commissioners to sign a letter stating their plans for mining at the Wall Creek Quarry in southern part of the county does not conflict with zoning or land-use planning provisions. The commissioners agreed to do so, with Commissioner Delbert Eitel recusing himself from the vote.
The commissioners then accepted a grant from the Johnson County Rec District.
Commissioner Smokey Wildeman explained what the funds are for.
The grant request was funded in full, minus in-kind work at the site to be performed by the county.
