At their meeting last week, the Johnson County Commissioners gave the go-ahead to construct the county's proposed fuel station.
The county has been looking into the possibility for a number of years due to difficulties in getting local businesses to bid on contracts for providing fuel for county vehicles, as well as having enough fuel to meet demand on occasion, according to Commission Chair Smokey Wildeman.
He explains further.
The fuel station will be located on the King Property that was purchased by the county a few years ago, adjacent to the County Fire Hall on King Lane and North Bypass.
Construction is expected to begin this fall and be completed by the end of the year.
