At their meeting Tuesday the Johnson County Commissioners approved a crew from the Travel Channel to film at the courthouse next week.
Jennifer Jackson, the Commissioner's Administrative Director, explained more about the request during the meeting.
The show, entitled “The Dead Files” features a medium and a detective that travel to different parts of the country to investigate paranormal activities.
According to the Travel Channel's website, the show's team approaches every case from their two specific areas of expertise: Steve DiSchiavi is a Homicide Detective and Amy Allan is a Physical Medium. The team combine their skills to solve unexplained paranormal phenomena in haunted locations across America.
Each investigator’s methods and findings remain hidden from the other team member to preserve the integrity of their findings, until the shocking results are revealed in the conclusion of each episode.
After checking with the department heads in the courthouse, the commissioners approved the chair signing the release to film if approved by County Attorney Ken DeCock.
The show is scheduled to film at the Historic Occidental Hotel and at the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum while here next week as well.
