Johnson Co. Discusses Hydrant, Water Line At Work Session

Johnson County Fire District One Chief Wes Johnson came before the County Commissioners at their work session Tuesday to discuss a proposed fire hydrant and water line at the Fire District offices on King Lane.

Johnson wanted to get direction from the commissioners on whether or not to proceed with the project and whether to include a water line from the fire district property across the road to the county-owned
King Property for possible future use.

The King Property has been looked at for a possible county-owned fuel depot but those plans are currently on hold. Regardless of what the property is used for, the proposed water line would be better installed now before the road is paved.

The commissioners suggested that Johnson and County Road and Bridge Supervisor Scott pehringer discuss the issue with Nelson Engineering to get estimates on the project, check the existing plans and discuss the matter with the city to see if their future plans for the area mesh with this project.

Discussions and a decision from the commissioners are expected once Johnson and Pehringer have completed the tasks and brig the information back to them at a future meeting.
