Four kids, four days, nearly 1,000 miles, and six different rivers… That’s what was involved in Joey’s Fly Fishing Foundation’s Cut Slam Adventure last week. Joey and the kids started on LeBarge Creek in southwest Wyoming last Thursday in search of the Colorado Cutthroat. All four of them caught their fish there. Jace Brown says that overall the trip was fun.
The group also fished Salt Creek, Grey’s River, Crystal Creek, and even the Snake River in an attempt to catch the four species of cutthroat to qualify for the Cut Slam. Jace and Savannah were the only ones to catch all four fish, but that didn’t deter young Marisa Aldrete…
Anglers can take up to one year to complete the program before having to start all over.
For now, both Jace and Savannah will join a group of fewer than 700 people who have ever completed the Wyoming Game and Fish Cut Slam program. And who knows, maybe there will be a Cut Slam Adventure Part II. We’ll just have to wait and see.
