A Buffalo woman gave birth to a son, the first baby born in Johnson County in 2012, on Sunday, January 8th. That could be the story itself, but in an interesting twist, the mother had no idea she was expecting.
Heather Nelson explained that she had her first son in December of 2010, and that she had attributed the odd things happening with her body over the last year to lingering effects from that birth.
Heather said she had seen the television show about mothers giving birth without knowing they were pregnant and always wondered how someone would not know they were pregnant.
Circumstances, she said, can sometimes make it possible, as she now knows.
Heather welcomed Ricky Emil Nelson, Jr. into the world at 5:15 pm; then both mother and son were transported to the Johnson County Healthcare Center for checkups. Both are healthy and doing fine.
Ricky Emil Nelso, Jr. was 7 lbs, 14 oz. and 22 inches long at birth. Heather said the family is proud that their son is the first baby born in 2012.
So far, she said, there are no plans to add any more siblings to their 1-week-old, 1-year-old, and 9-year-old.
Depending on the circumstances.
