Cobecon representatives Ryan Theiss and Dianna Madvig gave a report to the Johnson County Commissioners at their last meeting concerning savings the county would see by switching employee health insurance administration to Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
Ryan Theiss explains further.
Savings in medical billing that could be seen by the county include, conservatively speaking according to Theiss, $64,000 per year but could actually be closer to $80,000. Prescription Drug Benefit Management could see $16,000 in savings for the county, but could approach $20,000. The total Savings the county could see with the switch to Blue Cross/Blue Shield may approach $118,000 according to Cobecon's estimates.
The next step in the process is for Cobecon to set up meetings with county employees to discuss the changeover and answer questions before the change happens July 1.
