The Johnson County School Board, at their meeting Monday night, approved a new track and field complex for Kaycee High School.
The project was put out to bid and the bids were opened Friday, May 13 with one bidder, Renner Sports Surfaces, bidding on the project.
The base bid was $265,300, plus a number of alternate bids, which are explained by Matt Ramey, business manager for the district.
School District Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler told the board he thought building the track now is a good idea, especially considering the success of Kaycee's track team.
The board approved the new track and awarded the contract to Renner Sports Surfaces to build.
