Monday night at the first of two meetings scheduled this month, the Johnson County School Board received a report on a preliminary budget for the 2011/2012 year.
School District Business Manager Matt Ramey gave the report to the board, explaining the budget for the next school year will be similar to this year's budget, with an estimated increase in spending of $650,000 over this year. This year's budget was $19,350,000, with next year's budget estimated at $20,000,000.
Ramey told the board this is all very preliminary.
The preliminary budget needed to be discussed and approved by the board, so it could be sent on to the state, as required by state statute.
Ramey said the budget discussed Monday will more than likely change before it is finalized.
The board, after discussion, voted to approve the preliminary budget for the next school year.
