Johnson County's Commissioners and a number of other elected officials were in Jackson September 20-22 for meetings with the Wyoming County Commissioners' Association (WCCA) and the Wyoming Association of County Officers (WACO).
Commission Chair Smokey Wildeman said the meetings began Tuesday, September 20th with discussions on Roberts' Rules on public meetings, which was a refresher course, he said, on how to conduct meetings.
The second meeting was on County-appointed boards, their responsibilities and what the commissioners should expect from them.
On Wednesday's WACO meetings, there were specific discussions pertaining to employees, he said.
The WCCA then went into their various committees for further discussions, including problems some counties are having with guns in the courthouses because of the new concealed carry law that took effect this July.
The committees are looking to urge the Wyoming Legislature to give local county commissioners the power to ban guns either in the courtrooms or the courthouses altogether should they so choose, according to Wildeman.
