Jo Co Entities Receive Gifts From Uranium One

Uranium One held a brief ceremony Thursday afternoon to present monetary donations to various Buffalo and Johnson County entities.

Uranium One spokesperson Donna Wichers gave a short presentation and then awarded the checks to the various Johnson County Programs.

Wichers explained the program.

Wichers said the company has a committee that oversees the program and makes recommendations for where to donate money in the communities they work in.

According to a media release given at the ceremony, Uranium One has given over $285,000 within the State of Wyoming, and of that, $103,000 to Johnson County programs.

Given at Thursday's ceremony was $35,000 to Johnson County Search and Rescue; $5,000 to the Library Foundation; $10,000 to CASA;$5,000 to the Johnson County Family YMCA; $3,000 to the Boys' and Girls' Club; and $5,000 to the Clear Creek Middle School track and field team.

Commissioner John Gibbs said during the presentation that in addition to the money donated by the company and the jobs they provide, residents will see other benefits from them as well.

As well as today's $63,000 awards Uranium One has previously donated $15,000 to the Kaycee School and $25,000 to the Kaycee Destination Imagination and youth baseball programs.
