Jo Co Deputies Recognized For Their Efforts

Two Johnson County Sheriff's Deputies were recently recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community.

Deputy Rod Odenbach was named the 2011 Officer of the Year in recognition of his work in law enforcement, but particularly with domestic violence victims.

“Odenbach is sympathetic to victims and their challenges,” said Mary Kay Stafford, Director of the Johnson County Family Crisis Center, in a media release.

Odenbach was honored for his exceptional work with victim assistance organizations, children and young adults. Johnson County Sheriff Steve Kozisek tells us more about Odenbach.

The award is presented annually by the Family Crisis Center.

Also presented with an award that night at the First Responder's Banquet was Deputy Leigh Braley, who was given a Medal of Valor.

Kozisek explains what Braley did in the line of duty.

Kozisek said he thought the deputies were deserving of the awards, and reminds the public they are doing a difficult job that sometimes gets overlooked.

The banquet was Wednesday, October 26th, hosted by the Big Horn Baptist Church in Buffalo.
