Jo Co Commission's Decision on VOA Coming Tuesday

The decision on whether or not Johnson County will retain Volunteers of America (VOA) to run the County's Juvenile Detention and Probation program will be made at today's County Commission meeting.

Commission Chair Smokey Wildeman explains the pending decision.

VOA will make their presentation to the Commission at 9:30 this morning.

Also on the agenda, the Commission will award the contract for surveying the Trabing Road Project, and on a related note, a public informational meeting will be held at 4:30 pm regarding the Trabing Road Project. All residents in the area and all others interested are encouraged to attend.

County Planner Rob Yingling will present the final plat on the re-subdivision of Lot One of the Dube Minor Subdivision, as well as information regarding the Emerald Park and Shores at Lake DeSmet subdivisions.

The North Bypass right-of-way regarding property owned by Al Weeden will be addressed; and the Board of Equalization will discuss property tax issues with Representative Mike Madden.

The Johnson County Board of Health will meet at 1 pm. Haley Drake will make a presentation to the Commission on behalf of the Suicide Prevention Coalition at 2 pm. At 3 pm, the Criminal Justice Center Joint Powers Board will meet with the Commission.

And at 4 pm, the Commission will discuss zoning issues with County Planner Yingling.

The meeting will be in Commission Chambers upstairs at the Johnson County Courthouse from 9 am to 5 pm.
