The Johnson County Commissioners will have their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, and one of the main topics will be the new presentation and offer of services from Volunteers of America to continue providing juvenile detention and probation services to the county.
Johnson County Attorney Ken DeCock has been in duscussions with officials from the VOA for a number of weeks, working out details on the proposal.
Commission Chair Smokey Wildeman tells us what he expects from the VOA.
Also at the meeting, the Commission will issue a Notice to Proceed on construction of the new recycling center.
They will get an update from the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce's Wild Bunch on the status of the proposed Butch and Sundance statue they want to erect downtown.
GSG Engineering will give an update on the new justice center, which is nearing completion.
The County Treasurer will give an update, as will the airport board, and there will be a discussion on the right-of-way for a county road on Bureau of Land Management property.
Finally the County will discuss the appointment of a deputy county coroner.
The meeting will begin at 9 am upstairs in the courthouse in the Commission chambers.
