Jo Co Commission Looks at N. Bypass Easements

Landowners along North Bypass Road in Johnson County brought their concerns over easements and rights-of-way along the road to the Johnson County Commissioners at their meeting Tuesday.

Surveying was done by Bighorn Surveying and they presented their findings to the commission, pointing out numerous errors on easements and the non-uniform width of rights-of-way for the road itself.

Rights-of-way on Bypass Road from North Main to South Main range anywhere from 80 to 200 feet wide, according to Bighorn Surveying.

The landowners want the rights-of way set at a uniform width to clean up their deeds, but also want to allow for growth in the area as well, and are trying to compromise with the county.

Also of concern is the almost 90-degree intersection at the north end where Bypass meets Main Street. Everyone concerned wants to know how that intersection will be rebuilt and what affect WyDOT's pending paving and widening project on North Main might affect that intersection.

After a long discussion, the commission chose to gather more information before making any recommendations.

Discussions on the issue will continue at the next commission meeting May 3rd.
