Johnson County Sanitarian Rick Durfee spoke to the commissioners at their last meeting, reporting on projects at Lake DeSmet and the courthouse, and requested approval for a snow plow attachment.
Durfee reported that construction of a concrete slab for a building at the Mikesell/Potts Recreation Area at Lake DeSmet was awarded to Shawn Walter Construction. Forms have been built and the slab should be poured when the weather allows, Durfee said.
Durfee also said tree trimming will be performed at the courthouse in the next couple of weeks. He explains further.
Finally, the commissioners gave approval for Durfee to purchase a slightly used snow plow and attachment for his pickup to aid in plowing parking lots and other areas he is responsible for during bad weather.
Even with added help, with the new justice center and other areas added to his responsibilities, he is in need of the plow attachment in addition to the tractor and plow attachment the county currently owns.
Durfee will purchase the plow from Kubota in Sheridan for $4,500 which will includes installation and other amenities.
The commissioners approved the purchase and will transfer money from the county general fund to Durfee's budget account for the purchase.
