The Johnson County Commissioners, at their meeting Monday, awarded the contract to provide fuel services for county vehicles to Red Eagle Oil Co. of Buffalo.
The county had advertised for bids for the contract and had not received any bids by the previous deadline. The commission had decided to advertise again for bids, but it was discovered that Red Eagle had submitted a bid and had delivered it to the courthouse before the deadline.
Commissioner Smokey Wildeman explains.
The Red Eagle has been the contract holder for county fuel services and will continue to do so with this new contract, which will take effect August 1 and continue through June 30, 2012.
