Jo Co Adopts One Percent Funding Suggestions

The Johnson County Commissioners approved the recommendations of the One-Percent Committee at their meeting Tuesday.

Bob Snowden, One Percent Committee Chair, gave the commission a presentation on the committee's decisions on the funding requests.

Snowden explains one point of the recommendations to the Commission.

The One-Percent Committee receives all funding requests made to the City of Buffalo and Johnson County and then makes recommendations to both entities based on need, priority and available funding.

According to the report from Snowden, most funding requests were approved, but in many cases the amount of funding may not have been what was requested. But, he said, most requests did receive some sort of funding.

Some requests that weren't funded were the proposed multi-sports complex, aerial photography for both the city and county, and a request from Harold Jarrard Park in Kaycee for funding for a building to house the local ambulance service.

The funding report wasn't released at the meeting, but copies will soon be made available.

After Snowden's report, the commission voted to accept the funding recommendations of the committee.
