Buffalo's JLM Engineering was awarded the design contract for the Sports Fields Complex project at the final City Council meeting of 2011.
Bids for the project ranged widely from the low bid from JLM of $58,570 to $237,900.
City Planner Zach Montgomery explains why.
The State Lands and Investments Board (SLIB) approved funding of $477,383, with all but $10,362 that Kaycee will use for their street lighting project. The remaining $1.4 million needed to build the facility will come from surplus 1% money.
Design will continue once the contract is signed, with construction scheduled to begin this Spring and completion tentatively scheduled for late 2012.
