Jennifer Edwards Sentenced in District Court

32-year-old Sheridan resident Jennifer Edwards was sentenced Tuesday in 4th Judicial District Court. Edwards reached a plea agreement with the State in July, and plead guilty to one count of Felony Child Endangerment. District Court Judge John Fenn accepted the terms of the plea agreement and sentenced Edwards to 2 to 4 years in prison, suspended in lieu of 4 years of supervised probation.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Christopher LaRosa stated to the Court that the Pre-Sentence Investigation revealed that during a previous substance abuse evaluation, Edwards had not been honest about her drug use and recommended that she be reevaluated. As part of her probation, Judge Fenn ordered Edwards to complete another substance abuse evaluation, and follow through with any recommendations that result from it. Fenn also ordered Edwards to attend and complete a parenting class.

Edwards was charged in January of this year for knowingly and willfully allowing her young son to be in the same house where methamphetamine was being used and stored.
