Bids on construction of Buffalo's new Cloud Peak School were opened Wednesday at school district offices.

The bid openings for the construction of Buffalo's new Cloud Peak School were held at the school district's offices Wednesday afternoon.
Eight bids were opened and read with the bids ranging from a low of $11,620,000 to a high of $13,028,625.
Bidders were McMurry Construction of Casper; Van Ewing Construction of Gillette; LM Olson, Inc. of Rawlins; Fletcher Construction of Sheridan; S and S Builders, LLC of Gillette; Groathouse Construction of Casper; Sletter Construction of Cody; and Sampson Construction of Cheyenne.
The four lowest bidders: McMurry, LM Olson, Groathouse and Sletter are still in the running for the contract and were invited to submit additional information to Plan 1 Architecture, who is in charge of construction.
Dan Odasz, of Plan 1, told those at the meeting what the next step in the process would be.
Johnson County School District Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler said after the bid opening that although the School Facilities Department has 45 days to review the bids and make a decision, they know the district is under the gun to get the project started. He said he expects to have a decision from them sooner, probably within three weeks.
