Johnson County School District One's Board of Trustees heard an update on the feasibility study to determine the possible uses of the Clear Creek School building once the district vacates the building later this year and moves into the new Cloud Peak School which is currently under construction.
The district held a number of public information meetings last year to gain public support for and comments on various possible uses for the building that included a community center, housing Sheridan College in Johnson County and/or the Boys and Girls Club, and a performing arts center.
Dr. Rod Kessler, District Superintendent, explained to the board where the feasibility study currently sits.
A number of options are available to the board, including keeping the building and leasing it, selling the building, or possibly tearing it down. The feasibility study will present the different costs and benefits for each of the possibilities.
Once completed, the board can then take the information and make a decision on what to do with the building.
Kessler said the State School Facilities Commission hasn't given a strict deadline for the decision.
