JCSD1 Board Plans Next Step for Clear Creek School

Johnson County School District 1 Board of Trustees discussed a number of options for the use of the old Clear Creek School building at their meeting last week in Kaycee.
They reviewed information, suggestions and ideas from the public information meeting earlier in January and discussed what possible avenues they had open to them.
A number of options were discussed, including using the building for office space, a business incubator, or for use by Sheridan College and the Boys and Girls Club of the Bighorns.
All options were mentioned and discussed, but it was determined that until the district decides whether or not to keep the building for educational purposes, all other discussions were pretty much moot at this point.
When and if the district chooses to remoce the building from their inventory, the next option, legally, is to offer the building to the City of Buffalo, which has first right of refusal on the building. Should the city choose not to buy the building, it would then go to an open auction to the highest bidder.
After some discussion, the board decided what direction to go with the building.
The board voted to have one more public information gathering meeting with Melissa Butcher as the facilitator again, and to have a workshop with officials from the city and have all the informatione available for a possible decision at their February 13 meeting.
