At their last meeting in late January, the Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees received a financial report for December of 2011 and an update on where the institution sits so far this fiscal year, which is in pretty good shape.
Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward reported that gross revenues for the month were $1.5 million for the healthcare center, down by roughly $100,000 over last year.
Clinic and ER visits were down over last year as well, but net profit for the facility was at $1.9 million.
Accounts Receivable is down about $400,000 so far this year due to a change in Medicare reimbursement paperwork. Medicare has gone to a new system and they haven't perfected it on their end, and the JCHC is sitting on nearly a half a million dollars in reimbursements to be done once they get their system operating properly.
Ward also reported that he is looking into possible issues with employee health insurance in the coming months saying the HC may have to raise premiums when they renegotiate the contract in May of this year.
