JCHC Preliminary Budget Discussed by Hospital Board

The Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees, at their last meeting, discussed their preliminary budget, approved a mill levy request and approved price increases for the Amie Holt Care Center.

In their discussions, price increases of 5% in most departments in the clinic and hospital were expected, as were per-day increases in the Amie Holt Care Center.

Assumptions in the preliminary budget were that volume in the hospital will remain at FY2013 levels and that resident numbers in the care center would average 41 per day.

Wages are expected to increase 3% in FY2014 and a pension contribution of just over $255,000 was budgeted.

Physician compensation for ER coverage was increased 5% effective January 1, 2014.

The cost of supplies was increased 5% for this fiscal year.

A 3-mill levy was approved to be requested of the county and is expected to generate $3.135 million in revenue for the facility.

Finally the Foundation is expected to donate $196,000 to the JCHC.

Refinement of the preliminary budget will continue through this month, with a public budget hearing scheduled for July 10th and final approval of next year's budget expected July 31st.
