The Johnson County Healthcare Center Board of Trustees, at their last meeting, got an update on agreements with Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) from Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward.
Ward said the Healthcare Center has reached an agreement with CIGNA, which recently replaced Great West Health Insurance as the provider for state employees.
Ward also said he expects to reach an agreement with United Healthcare within the next few weeks.
The JCHC had to change some of their demands involving the termination clause in the contract. Ward said United is a big organization and JCHC does not have a lot of power in negotiations, which will be interesting in the future as United gets even bigger. They have been tentatively awarded the contract to provide healthcare for active duty personnel, he said.
“United Healthcare is going to be a big player here,” he said.
