The Board of Trustees for the Johnson County Healthcare Center voted at last week's meeting to remain a Tier 2 Provider for the WISE Provider Network.
WISE is the health insurance provider network for Johnson County School District and many other school districts in the state.
According to JCHC Administrator Sandy Ward, the network neglected to approach any hospitals or health care facilities in the state and allow them the opportunity to become Tier 1 providers, which would offer the best payments from the plan for the plan's participants.
Ward explains the situation.
According to Ward, WISE approached JCHC and told them they could become a Tier 1 provider if they were to offer 12 percent discounts across the board on their services provided. If JCHC continued to offer their standard 5% discount, they could continue as a Tier 2 provider through 2011, but would have to offer discounts of 8% in 2012 to remain at Tier 2 or jump to the 12% discount for Tier 1 status.
After discussions, the board approved remaining a Tier 2 provider through July of 2012.
