Board of Trustees at the Johnson County Healthcare Center have been looking at the possibility of replacing the aging Amie Holt Care Center for a number of years, looking rather seriously the last year or so.
The problem has been valuation in the county has fallen in recent years, and the amount of revenue the hospital receives has gone down accordingly as well.
The board has weighed decreased revenue and the possibility of not replacing the aging nursing home with the service to the community a new nursing home would provide.
At their last meeting, the board chose to move ahead with the project.
Marcy Schueler, Director of Marketing at the Healthcare Center, gives us more details on the project.
And what happens to the old Amie Holt Facility?
The project is expected to begin this year.
