Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees were updated at their meeting last week on the status of physician recruitment and PPO agreements by Administrator Sandy Ward.
Ward said a female physician was recently interviewed and both she and the hospital are interested in pursuing her eventual employment at JCHC. She will do a clinical rotation with the facility for a month next summer to see if both parties are still interested at that time. If so, they will consider extending a contract to her although she would still have to complete her residency and would not be available until the summer of 2014.
The JCHC has also seen interest from a male physician, ans although they aren't looking for another male physician, they will be looking into the possibility because he is a strong candidate.
PPO agreements are finally concluded with United Healthcare, Ward said, after nearly four months of negotiations. The only major provider they do not have an agreement with now is the Wise Provider Network, which school district employees are contracted with.
The JCHC is still a Level Two Provider, while Sheridan Memorial Hospital is a Level One provider. Ward does not foresee any changes to the Level Two Tier in the near future.
