At the last Board Meeting for the Johnson County Healthcare Center, Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward reported that recruiting is still ongoing but not looking very promising to this point.
He did say that they have received interest from one female physician who is currently in residency in Idaho who would like to relocate to this area, but still has two years remaining in her residency contract.
The JCHC is discussing possible interviews with the physician this summer with the idea that if all parties are mutually interested and she interviews well, then they will try to “lock her up” when her residency is finished.
There is difficulty, Ward said, in finding qualified female physicians that are interested in relocating to Buffalo, and if she and her husband are interested, it might be in the facility's best interest to pursue her even if they must wait two years for her residency to be completed.
The physician, he said, is an OB/GYN that would also cover the ER.
