Johnson County Healthcare Center Adminstrator Sandy Ward gave the Board an update on the 2012 construction project at their meeting May 30, saying the project is nearing completion and still under budget.

Ward said the Department of Health recently surveyed the Center's chemo room. The “Chemo Suite” was required by the Federal Government for mixing the chemo drugs and IV's, and the Center will be occupying the area shortly, he said.

Also up for survey this month is the new Radiology area, and once that area is done, the contractor will begin the final phase of construction whichh he expects to be completed by August.

Ward said he expects the project to come in at about $12 million, under the $12.5 million projected cost.

On a related note, the 2016 construction project to replace the aging Amie Holt Care Center will begin the planning phase in August, with a company drilling soil samples in the area to see if the proposed building site is suitable.
