JCHC 2012 Construction Project Essentially Complete

The Johnson County Healthcare Center Board of Trustees held their September meeting Wednesday night and heard an update on the 2012 Capital Construction Project which is essentially complete, according to Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward.

Ward said the Department of Health surveyed the Radiology Department, the last major section of the construction project, and found a minor deficiency concerning a fire wall which has been corrected.

The hospital will be able to move in and occupy the department next week, which will bring the nearly two and half-year project to a close, with only minor projects yet to complete.

One issue from the construction project was brough to the board's attention. Flooring in the E.R. and some other areas is bubbling and needs to be replaced. The healthcare center and the sub-contractor are currently discussing the issue to try to resolve the problem but it is looking like some of the flooring will need to be taken up and redone.

The project was budgeted at $12.5 million, but Ward said the current cost is sitting at $11.88 million and when the project is completed and the final tally is done, he expects the final cost to right at $12 million.
