The State Legislature's Joint Appropriations Committee has been meeting in Cheyenne to discuss issues that will be addressed during the next legislative session in early 2012. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter takes a look at the Wyoming Retirement System, which will be the topic of the day today at the JAC meeting.
The JAC will receive an update today from Wyoming Retirement System Director Thom Williams. State Representative and JAC Chair Rosie Berger says that the retirement system, in particular the state employee's benefits package has been a big issue over the past several years because of a down economy.
Berger points out that there isn't necessarily anything wrong with the state's retirement system, but that legislators want to take steps to make sure it remains that way in the future.
We'll have more from the JAC meeting once the committee wraps things up today in Cheyenne.
