The Wyoming State Legislature's Joint Appropriations Committee held the first of many meetings late last week in Cheyenne where the JAC discussed among other things, potential changes to the state employees' group insurance program; construction residency preference and the state employee compensation system. The JAC also received an update from the director of the Wyoming Retirement System.

Representative and JAC Chair Rosie Berger says that the long process that began last week will continue for quite some time leading up to the budget session in February of next year.

Berger points out that it will still be several months before the governor has to have a budget for the JAC to review.

The JAC will meet with the Joint Education Committee this Friday in Casper to hear a series of reports on a monitoring process on cost pressures impacting the Wyoming education resource block grant model addressing both the regional and external cost adjustments.
