Sheridan County School District #2's board of trustees met for the first times since the beginning of the school year, and thanks to their advance preparation, the school year has kicked off with textbook precision. Tom Sachse, assistant superintendent of the district, summarizes the good news.
As the students are settling in, the next big event for school administrators will be next month's inspection from the Northeast Accreditation Team. A team of fifteen evaluators will visit all the schools in the district.
The district goes through at paper accreditation process annually, and the inspection team makes its rounds every five years.
The district also accepted several monetary donations. Marathon Oil donated $1500 for unspecified purposes, and Java Moon gave each staff member a gift card. The High School Cross Country Team received $970 from the Big Horn Trail Run and $610 from the Michelle Ludwig Memorial account. The Golf Club was given $761 from the Sheridan Country Club Women's Association, and the Football Club got $1800 from the Wyoming National Guard.
Finally, the district is hosting an open house at the new Meadowlark Elementary School facility Thursday night between 5 and 7.
