Saturday, C & K Equipment hosted an old fashioned tractor pull and sale in the field across from their business on Commercial Lane. It was a family-friendly affair with folks sitting in lawn chairs along the pull lane watching the tractors compete.
It's all about who can pull a full load the farthest. Slick Mueller was there, you know him, he's the guy with all those tractors south of town near Woodland Park Village. He didn't take home a trophy, but explains how track conditions affect the pull.
The tractors are antique, built before 1960 and the drivers must pull in low gear. Slick says you have to know your tractor.
Shawna Mueller Olson, Slick's daughter, took home a first in the powder puff division. She earned her tractor.
Shawna's husband Bill is a newcomer to the sport.
Slick's son Fred, designed the pull sled. He took home several trophies this year and says there's more to a tractor pull than just winning a trophy.
Over 80 competitors from the surrounding four state region pulled Saturday.
