The Sheridan County Suicide Prevention Coalition is hosting a broadcast in observance of International Survivors of Suicide Day Saturday at the Sheridan Fulmer Public Library. Vanessa Hastings, community prevention professional with the Wyoming Prevention Management Organization, said the event offers a chance for those who have been affected by suicide to receive support.
There will be a 90-minute broadcast from the American Foundation for suicide prevention at 10:45 a.m. The broadcast features a panel of survivors and professionals who can answer questions and offer advise for those who have lost loved ones to suicide. Hastings said the event can help those dealing with lingering grief to find a support network.
Again, the broadcast will be at the library at 10:45 Saturday morning.
Recent statistics released by the Wyoming Department of health indicate Wyoming has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation. The report is attached below.
