The Inter-Tribal Wellness Center in Sheridan has started a new summer project as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program for Native Americans.
Boby Legerski, a coordinator at the center, said the center strives to offer culturally relevant treatment to its residents.
In an effort to incorporate Native American heritage into the healing process, Legerski has coordinated a gardening program at the wellness center.
The center's new garden is 154 feet in diameter, and wellness center participants are growing vegetables and spices. The center plans to build a root cellar and a greenhouse so they can use their harvest to make soups and stews throughout the year.
