At Thursday's meeting of the Sheridan County Fair Association's Board of Trustees, officials explained that an indoor arena is in the works.
Melissa Albrecht, facilities director for the Sheridan County Fairgrounds, says that the idea of an indoor arena has been around for years but it's well on its way.
Albrecht says they are determined to establish the indoor arena and look forward to being able to share it with the community.
During the meeting, Board Member Brendon Kerns said it would be better to pay for the arena out-of-pocket.
Since almost everything from the soil to the fencing is already there, Kerns said it would make more sense. From there, the association could ask for county assistance in purchasing individual items rather than the whole arena.
At this time, the board is still working out the financial details. Some members of the board hope to meet with the Sheridan County Board of Commissions in early January to discuss the budgeting of the arena.
Albrecht also said the Fair Association's website now has a section for classified ads. You can visit their website at www.sherfair.com.
