A request from First Federal Savings Bank to rezone two residential properties that they own just south of their bank on Coffeen Avenue was approved on first reading by the Sheridan City Council Monday night. The rezone would change the properties from R-2 residential to a B-1 business district.
First Federal is requesting the rezone to add a parking lot and office space to accommodate a growing clientele and staff. Last week the Planning Commission recommended approval of the ordinance despite a detailed presentation by Ernie Scott, who lives directly across the street from the area in question. Scott told the Council that since that meeting, he's been talking with Kevin Bailey from First Federal about entering into a development agreement in regards to the property.
Both Scott and Bailey stated to the Council that while the development agreement has yet to be finalized, it will be before the ordinance comes up for third and final reading.
