The 17th Annual Festival of Trees dinner and auction drew a large crowd despite the cold weather Tuesday night. The event is one of the main fundraisers for the Special Olympics program here in Sheridan County. Anita Badgett has been part of the Festival since it began.
Those attending had the chance to bid on several fully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, quilts and other holiday decorations.
All of the proceeds from the auction go directly to Sheridan County Special Olympians. They provide the chance for athletes to travel and enter the competitions at no cost.
All of the auction items were donated locally and many of the decorations were hand made. The smile of some of the athletes present as the bids rose higher certainly created a warmth that could fight off the most bitter cold.
There will be around 25 school age athletes and 75 masters athletes who will participate in the Special Olympics program in Sheridan County this year.
