The Wyoming House Monday rejected former Democratic state Representative Seth Carson's challenge on a vote of 42-16 he'd filed against Representative Matt Greene. After the vote, the House gave Greene a rousing standing ovation.

Greene, a major in the Wyoming Army National Guard, defeated Carson in the November election for the House District that includes downtown Laramie.

By all accounts, the process was handled professionally and respectfully. Freshman Representative Jon Botten describes why the House voted as it did.

Surprisingly, Botten, who was most recently an attorney in Sheridan, himself was one of the sixteen “nay” votes. He explains.

Botten is quick to stress, however, that Representative Greene will be a fine public servant for his district and for Wyoming. Now that the decision has been made, it's full steam ahead for the bill making business at hand.

Botten was elected Representative for House District 40, formerly served by Jack Landon. Upon his return to Sheridan after this Legislative Session wraps up in early March, he will assume the judgeship over the Sheridan Municipal Court.
